ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy is calling for the great return of a dormant powerhouse in 2024.

Anyone who follows college football knows that Nebraska just hasn't had an ideal last decade, as the Huskers currently own the longest bowl drought among any power conference football program (since 2016). However, McElroy believes there's light at the end of this tunnel.

“I feel pretty good about it,” said McElroy of Nebraska on his show, "Always College Football ."

“Vegas does too," he added. "Vegas has in the past, too. But I feel really good about the progress that they’re making.”

The ESPN analyst is confident 2024 will be different than the other recent years where Nebraska came in with hopes of a turnaround before unspooling during the season.

“I remain bullish on Nebraska, I will remain bullish on Nebraska,” added McElroy. “My expectations for them have not changed."

Particularly, what sets this year's crop apart is their ceiling. Greg McElroy believes Nebraska can throw punches with the heavyweights this season. They may not win, but they'll be in the fight.

"I anticipate eight wins this year and a team that can be very dangerous when teeing it up against some of the best teams in the sport," he said.

A bowl game would mean relief for Nebraska fans, finally snapping that ugly drought. McElroy predicts not only that, but for the 'Huskers to add two more and get to eight victories on the year, which would be tremendous for Matt Rhule.
