Chiefs vs. Bears Preseason Week 3: How to Watch, Betting Odds

The Kansas City Chiefs close out the exhibition portion of their 2024 schedule on Thursday Night Football against the Chicago Bears.

If this was a regular season matchup, storylines would be aplenty about Chiefs signal caller Patrick Mahomes going up against the overall No. 1 pick in April's NFL Draft, Caleb Williams, who was selected by the Chicago Bears. But alas, it's not to be.

Mahomes and the Chiefs are coming off a 24-23 forgettable loss to the Detroit Lions, where the most interesting thing that happened from a Kansas City standpoint was a behind-the-back pass from Mahomes to tight end Travis Kelce, who ran the wrong route on the play.

Mahomes was 8-of-14 on the night while leading the offense to two field goals against the Lions' backup defense.

Williams and most of the Bears starters are expected to sit out the preseason finale against the Chiefs, and Chicago coach Matt Eberflus has been impressed with the former USC Trojan this offseason.

"He's a great learner. Very smart," Eberflus said, via The Athletic . "He works really hard. But he also wants to work with others. He's compatible personality-wise, instinct-wise to be able to work with people. ... His willingness to learn is second to none."

Likewise, Chiefs coach Andy Reid says he won't play his starters on Thursday night either. “I’ll probably sit the starters, the way it looks right now,” Reid said.

It's the final tune-up for both teams before the regular season starts.

The Chiefs open on Thursday Night Football on Sept. 5 against the Baltimore Ravens at Geha Field at Arrowhead Stadium, while the Bears host the Tennessee Titans on Sept. 8 at noon.
