Deshaun Watson's Browns Trying to Trade Backup QB

    By Mike Fisher,

If the Cleveland Browns quarterback depth chart is fine in the No. 1 spot, there is a surplus of talent here.

So, let's work on the assumption - wobbly though some think it might be - that veteran Deshaun Watson does indeed represent "fine.'' Oh, and for that matter, same with the No. 2 spot held by Jameis Winston.

That would explain why Browns are fielding offers for one of their other backup QBs.

Second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson has apparently been a subject of interest for "multiple teams."

Aug 17, 2024; Cleveland, Ohio, USA; Cleveland Browns quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson (17) leads the quarterbacks and centers onto the field for warmups before the game against the Minnesota Vikings at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Thompson-Robinson has had his impressive in both of Cleveland's preseason games this year, and the fifth-round pick in the 2023 draft out of UCLA did some of the same last preseason as well. And in the regular season, as Watson and others were unavailable? Thompson-Robinson was up to the task then, too, as he made three starts and appeared in eight games as a rookie, helping to keep the club afloat.

Thompson-Robinson has been in a competition with fifth-year pro Tyler Huntley for Cleveland's No. 3 quarterback position behind Watson and Winston, and in the end, maybe it is Huntley who other teams find an interest in.

What does Cleveland want back? A smart guess, based on the injury issues with starting tackles Jedrick Wills Jr. and Jack Conklin? Offensive line help.
