With last season's Joe Flacco-mania behind them, Deshaun Watson and the Cleveland Browns enter the 2024 season with a clean slate. Still, the team might be looking to shake up its QB depth chart behind their $230 million starter .

According to The Athletic's Zac Jackson on Tuesday, August 20, the Browns "have discussed a potential trade of second-year quarterback Dorian Thompson-Robinson with multiple teams, two league sources with knowledge of the discussions told The Athletic."

The Browns reporter added that it remains "unclear if Cleveland is close to a deal" to move on from the 24-year-old backup signal-caller.

Thompson-Robinson, a fifth-round NFL draft pick in 2023, turned heads with some electric plays during his first preseason action. One of five QBs to start a game for Cleveland last season, he threw for 440 yards, 1 touchdown, 4 interceptions and took 6 sacks in three starts.

Nearing the 2024 regular season, Thompson-Robinson is currently getting minimal reps behind Watson and new veteran backup Jameis Winston, who signed a one-year, $4 million deal in March.

The Browns still have nearly a week before the NFL's deadline to cut rosters to 53 players on August 27.

As is the case with many players on the trading block late in the preseason, Thompson-Robinson will also be a prime candidate to see additional snaps during the Browns' final preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks on Saturday, August 24.

Cleveland is 0-2 and has been outscored 50-22 in its first two tune-up games.
