'Big Shot Bob' Hall of Fame-Worthy?

    By Lance Roberson,

Although Michael Jordan is celebrated for winning six NBA championships, there is one player with more championship rings than No. 23, who played in the same era. Former San Antonio Spurs forward Robert "Big Shot Bob" Horry has seven NBA Finals victories.

Michael Cooper recently received the ultimate basketball honor by earning a Basketball Hall of Fame induction despite only averaging 8.9 points per game in his 12-year NBA career. However, the Lakers legend earned a Defensive Player of the Year award and is a five-time NBA champion.

During Cooper's interview with Brandon "Scoop B" , Robinson, the Hall of Fame guard mentioned Horry as someone he'd like to see in the the holy grail of basketball fraternities.

“Hopefully they’ll pick him," Cooper said.

Horry averaged seven points in 17 NBA seasons. Unlike Cooper, Horry never won an individual award. However, as mentioned previously, he won an NBA championship, with clutch shots recorded in his championship gold-filled career.

During the 2005 NBA Finals, Horry hit the game-winning shot in Game 5 against the reigning NBA champions, the Detroit Pistons, giving the Spurs a 3-2 lead. San Antonio won the championship, thanks to Horry's clutch shooting.

Only a few players can say they have more of something than Jordan, regardless of status. If winning is everything, Horry may deserve a spot in the Hall of Fame.

Horry played in San Antonio for five seasons, during which time he averaged 4.7 points. The Basketball Hall of Fame is notorious for the leniency with which it selects certain inductees, leaving the window open for Horry.
