As the New York Jets prepare for their lone joint practice against their cross-town rival in the New York Giants, they expect one position group to be tested more than any other.

    The offensive line.

In many ways, the Giants are considered somewhat of a rebuilding team entering the 2024 season. One position they aren't worried about in this phase of the process in their defensive line.

It's why the Jets and head coach Robert Saleh are more than pleased to see how their current offensive line fares against an underrated unit across the league.

"The Giants have a really good front, felt like they did a really good job in the game against us last year," Saleh stated Tuesday. "It's no different, just compete, strain, and do the best you can, and whatever the result is, that will be the result."

Big Blue sacked Zach Wilson and the Jets four times but it was Gang Green that got the last laugh in an overtime 13-10 win last season.

Of the four sacks, young third-year edge rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux recorded three of them. He's a player the Jets plan on keying on in a major way with Tyron Smith and Morgan Moses seen as upgrades over Mekhi Becton and Max Mitchell at the tackle spots.

Still, the former Oregon star poses a strong test for the Jets.

"He plays hard. He plays with great effort," Saleh said of Thibodeaux. "He's got great football IQ, and he's relentless to the passer. When you give guys like him opportunities to rush the passer, he's going to get home eventually, so good player, smart player, relentless player, and a guy that is continuing to grow in this league."

Joint practice for New York's football teams should be the perfect test to see how far the Jets have come with their offensive line concerns.
