Jets, Aaron Rodgers Pleased With 'Tougher' Training Camp

Even at 40 years old and in his 20th NFL season, Aaron Rodgers can still be surprised by what the league can put forth in front of him.

As he enters his second season with the New York Jets, Rodgers is preparing for the opportunity to show that his torn Achilles injury in 2023 won't deter him from being an elite player for Gang Green.

Even if that means going through a tougher training camp than he has been used to.

"I would say the camp is much harder this year, and maybe the hardest in the last seven or eight in my career," Rodgers said Tuesday. "I knew that, I had a little insight coming into camp that that's what Robert wanted to do, so I think it's been good for us you know?"

Of all the things Jets fans probably want to hear, holding a physical training camp with an aging roster isn't exactly at the top of the list. The injury concerns that can come from it certainly aren't exactly solid for a team that has been decimated by that in the recent past.

Still, Rodgers is not only unconcerned about the physical style of work but is welcoming it.

"You know how it goes, whatever teams are having success, people kind of look at their schedule and go, "let's do that," but I give Robert a lot of credit because he, from the start of the offseason said this is going to be a tough training camp," Rodgers stated. "I think it's been a lot of reps for the ones, he told me the other day, we were somewhere in the neighborhood of 300 more reps, I think at this point in camp than last year and it feels like it, but it's good."

It remains to be seen whether the physical training camp will help the Jets in the long run in 2024, but it certainly should be more than enough that Rodgers appears comfortable with it.
