Former NFL star Robert Griffin III didn't hold back when discussing Tua Tagovailoa's revelation on how former Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores destroyed his confidence.

In an interview with "The Dan Le Batard Show," Tagovailoa opened up about the difference between Flores and his current head coach, Mike McDaniel. The 26-year-old QB didn't sugarcoat his words when explaining how their coaching styles differed, highlighting how Flores' approach affected him negatively.

"To put it in simplest terms, if you woke up every morning and I told you, ‘You suck at what you did, that you don’t belong doing what you do, that you shouldn’t be here, that this guy should be here, that you haven’t earned this,'" Tagovailoa shared.

"And then you have somebody else come in and tell you, ‘Dude, you are the best fit for this, like you are accurate, you are the best whatever. You are this, you are that.' Like how would it make you feel listening to one or the other?"

After hearing Tagovailoa's confession, Griffin took it to X (formerly Twitter) to share how the experience of the Dolphins QB should be "A HUGE LIFE LESSON FOR ALL OF US on the power of the tongue."

"For 2 years, Brian Flores tore down Tua’s confidence and his play reflected it," Griffin wrote. "Mike McDaniel met Tua where he was at, focused on what he did best & empowered him to improve everywhere. POWERFUL."

Robert Griffin III couldn't have said it any better. At the end of the day, Tua Tagovailoa proved how important a coach is in the development of a player.

Mike McDaniel took over the Dolphins in 2022 after the team fired Brian Flores following the 2021 season. Ever since then, Tagovailoa has transformed into a Pro Bowler and a legitimate threat.

In his two seasons under Flores, Tagovailoa accumulated 4467 yards and 20 touchdowns on 66.2 percent completion. With McDaniels as his coach over the last two years, the fifth-year QB has tallied 8172 yards and 57 touchdowns on 67.4 percent completion.

Of course it's unfair to compare Tagovailoa's stats when he was a rookie and a second-year player to his third- and fourth-year versions, although there's merit to questioning why it took time before he really exploded when he had the talent to succeed all along.
