Coach Matt LaFleur's Green Bay Packers were thoroughly outclassed by Sean Payton's Denver Broncos in a 27-2 preseason loss Sunday night, prompting LaFleur to question the Packers' level of effort.

He said he wanted to his team "strain" more on the football field after watching the lopsided loss unfold.

On Tuesday, LaFleur walked back his comments , saying that he felt different after examining game tape of his team's preseason loss.

"You know, it's why is' always good to probably say less to you guys postgame because I felt a certain type of way and I don't think, after watching the tape, I don't think I truly appreciated, our guys were playing hard, they were straining," LaFleur said.

LaFleur noticed a swarming Packers defense on film, a development that made him feel better about how his team played vs. the Broncos at Empower Field at Mile High Stadium in Denver.

"You can even see it from the first play 'til the last play of the game, when they're running the football," LaFleuer said.

"I mean we had 10 hats in the frame when you hit the pause button, there was 10 bodies at the ball.

"Our guys were definitely playing hard."

The Packers have one preseason game remaining against the Baltimore Ravens at Lambeau Field, followed by their regular season opener on the road against Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles on September 6 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
