Oklahoma City Thunder big man Chet Holmgren has been the center of many conversations this summer. From live TV appearances to podcasts to viral offseason workout videos, the 22-year-old rising superstar is letting it be known that he is only just entering the NBA limelight.

Holmgren has also been active on social media, often commenting and replying to fans and even sharing his thoughts on teammates Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Lu Dort’s Paris Olympics performance.

Chet backs Dort in a recent X post

Yes, Chet replied to another post on social media — but in good spirits. No one knows you as your teammate does. Holmgren always goes the extra mile in praising his teammates, who don’t generate as much publicity and internet fame as he does.

One of those off-radar players is Dort, OKC’s 25-year-old swingman. Hailed as “The Dorture Chamber,” the rising star is a hands-down celebrity in Oklahoma City, but not so much outside of it.

In a recent X post by LegionHoops, the handle listed Dort as the player that “deserves more recognition” and asked users to reply with a player they feel is underrated. Holmgren, in approval of the post, replied, “Way more.”

Chet has been Oklahoma City’s unofficial leader in supporting his players all summer long. He recently appeared on former Thunder star Paul George’s podcast, where he lauded Gilgeous-Alexander and Alex Caruso’s games and how thrilled he is to return to the court with them. He also propped up Dort’s toughness earlier this summer after a late scuffle in Team Canada’s Olympic opener vs. Greece.

Dort is positioned to leap onto a larger radar next season with continued improvement. After making a memorable impact during last season’s playoffs, now is just the tip of the iceberg for the 25-year-old who averaged 10.9 points, 3.6 rebounds and 1.4 assists a game. Chet's been even better with averages of 16.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists in his stellar rookie season.
