Tom Brady Reveals Importance of Smart Receivers

Quarterback is one of, if not the hardest job to have in all of sports, and nobody has done it better than former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady.

The legendary field general recently appeared at Fanatics Fest and conducted a True Grit panel hosted by Stephen A. Smith. He talked about the importance of having smart receivers, as the quarterback's job is already hard without having wide outs not knowing what they're doing. The main example he gave was former teammate Wes Welker.

"I never thought for one second whether he was going to do the right thing or not," Brady said. "That just frees my mind up to do what I need to do because my job's not easy."

A good wide receiver is a quarterback's best friend, as they can make a bad throw into a great play with their catching ability and athleticism. But if they do not know what they are doing, they can be a huge liability on the field, and Brady also touched on what it was like to have one of those guys in the game.

"He's barely lined up right. He's looking over at the sideline," Brady continued. "It looks like he's trying to ask the coach, 'What do I got?' And I'm like, 'He's out. I'm throwing the ball somewhere else.'"

Brady revealed that he would tell Patriots head coach Bill Belichick to take players out of the game if they were not confident in the play call. Because if Brady didn't trust you enough to target you, maybe you shouldn't have been on the field in the first place.
