Giants To Stay Aggressive on Waiver Wire

The New York Giants have made a living off of the scraps of other teams.

As organizations across the league look to find players to keep and let go from the 53-man roster, the Giants have eyed certain players on those teams, and have moved swiftly to pick them up.

That's how guys like Jason Pinnock and Nick McCloud have found their way onto the roster.

New York's waiver wire system is a strong one - and something that the team is looking to repeat as the 2024 season draws closer.

“We’re always going to be aggressive,” assistant general manager Brandon Brown said. “Last year we were further down in the claim order, but going back to our first year, we were able to take those swings and get Fabian Moreau, Nick McCloud, get Jason Pinnock. We’re going to do the same thing again. It may be, obviously, at different positions, but we want to make sure that if there is an opportunity to bolster, especially the back end of the roster, depth, and special team contributors, we’re not going to apologize for trying to do that.”

Will the Giants be able to find a starting caliber player similar to Pinnock? That's unlikely. Still, their process has allowed them to stay aggressive during this time of year.

It also helps that with Andrew Thomas' recent restructure, the Giants have plenty of tools and ammo to go big-game hunting should any starter be made available.
