As the 2024 NFL season approaches, the Philadelphia Eagles appear poised for another strong campaign. However, one area of potential improvement remains the wide receiver corps. While A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith form a formidable duo atop the depth chart, the competition for the third receiver spot has yet to produce a clear frontrunner.

Throughout training camp, several players have vied for the WR3 role, including Parris Campbell, John Ross III, Johnny Wilson, and Britain Covey. Despite flashes of potential from these candidates, the Eagles' front office may be looking beyond the current roster to fill this crucial position.

ESPN's Tim McManus recently reported that it "seems likely" the Eagles will execute a trade for a receiver before Week 1. This aligns with GM Howie Roseman's aggressive approach to roster building and the team's win-now mentality.

"Given the expectations for this season and the lack of clear answers behind A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, it seems likely the Eagles will look to add before Week 1 against the Green Bay Packers in Brazil," McManus stated.

The Eagles' pursuit of another receiver makes sense given their ambitions for the 2024 season. After a disappointing end to their 2023 campaign, Philadelphia is eager to reload and make another deep playoff run. Adding a proven WR3 could provide quarterback Jalen Hurts with another reliable target and further diversify an already potent offense.

As the clock ticks down to the season opener, Eagles fans should keep a close eye on potential trade news. Roseman and the front office have limited time to complete a deal, but their track record suggests they won't hesitate to make a move if the right opportunity presents itself.
