The Boston Red Sox (66-59) went to war with the Houston Astros (68-57) on Tuesday and brought home the victory with a 6-5 score. Even in the high-scoring game, both teams were still flashing the leather.

The play of the night, however, belongs to Red Sox utility man Ceddanne Rafaela . Manning shortstop on Tuesday, Rafaela would field a ball hit deep into the hole to his right and make a spectacular jump throw to first to retire the runner.

Rafaela is no stranger to highlight-reel defensive plays. Most of them, however, have come in centerfield and not at shortstop.

Rafaela enters Wednesday with an Outs Above Average total of -5 on the season per Baseball Savant . While shortstop is listed as his primary position, it has been his worst defensive position to this point in his career with a combined -10 OAA, but you would not know it if you watched last night's play.

The Red Sox entered Tuesday with a 65-59 record, and having gone 4-6 over their last 10 games. While they spent the first half of the season making a playoff push, their hopes have dwindled in the second half of the season with their pitching not performing as it did in the first half.

Now entering Wednesday with a 5-5 record over their last 10 games, the Red Sox need a win to secure the series victory over the Astros before heading back to Boston to host the Arizona Diamondbacks (71-56) in a three-game weekend series at Fenway Park.
