One condition is all that separates Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles and Miami Dolphins star receiver Noah Lyles from having a race against each other.

The tension between the two athletes began when Hill claimed he could outpace Lyles in a 50-yard dash.

Olympic gold medalist Noah Lyles stated on Wednesday that he is open to racing Hill, but only one condition: the race must be a 100-meter sprint, run under legitimate circumstances, and sponsored for a significant sum.

Lyles, the reigning Olympic 100-meter champion, responded to Hill's challenge by setting his own terms on Wednesday.

“I mean if somebody wants to sponsor the event and we’re racing for millions of dollars and it’s on a track and we’re running 100 meters, then sure, we can race,” Lyles told NBC News.

“But it has to be legit, I’m not here to do gimmicks. You’re racing against a guy who has worked his whole life to get the title of ‘the world’s fastest man’ and you’ve worked to be a great football player. You can’t just jump the line because you’re a great football player.”

Wednesday's remarks were Lyles' most comprehensive reply to Hill's claim that he could outpace the Olympic champion.

Hill, who typically sprints shorter distances in football, expressed his preference to a 50-yard race, urging Lyles to "sign the contract and lock in that 50-yard race” in a post on X on Sunday.

While Lyles is confident in his speed even at shorter distances, he reiterated that he would only race in the 100-meter event.

“Again I’m not here to do gimmicks,” Lyles said. “You want to challenge me, ‘the world’s fastest man,’ if you want to challenge that, you have to challenge that in his event.”

The potential race remains uncertain, hinging on the distance and conditions set by both athletes.
