Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel joked with reporters on Wednesday, claiming he was responsible for Tyreek Hill's latest injury.

Hill was seen at Tuesday’s practice with a brace on his right hand and was held out of Wednesday's joint practice with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While it appeared to be a football-related injury, McDaniel humorously took the blame.

When asked about the thumb injury, McDaniel said, “Yeah, I’m really good at thumb war. He lost."

Despite the joke, the real cause of Hill’s injury remains unclear. McDaniel, however, doesn’t believe it’s too serious.

“There’s also times that, because of the timing of where their bodies are at, kind of puts them at risk to get further injury,” McDaniel said.

“So from a medical standpoint, you’re just trying to let something cool down so you don’t have something happen at the expense of regular-season games,” he added.

Hill was a huge factor in the Dolphins' success last season, finishing with 119 receptions, 1,799 yards, and 13 touchdowns.
