It's news that we could see coming for a few days now, but news nonetheless.

On Wednesday afternoon, the Denver Broncos officially announced that rookie quarterback Bo Nix would be named the starter for Week 1 of the 2024 NFL season, getting his official debut against the Seattle Seahawks.

After a pair of impressive preseason performances against the Indianapolis Colts and Green Bay Packers, Nix was the heavy favorite to be named the starter over both Zach Wilson and Jarrett Stidham.

Still, the news officially coming out was greeted with joy from many, especially ESPN's Pat McAfee, who has been trumpeting Nix's praises for a while now.

The ESPN star was taping his daily show when the news broke on Wednesday, and here is how he reacted to the announcement:

"This felt pretty obvious if you watched him play in his preseason games," McAfee said. "Against the Indianapolis Colts when he got his first preseason action, he was phenomenal. Everything you saw from him was composure, leadership, his body-style, his ability to move."

McAfee is one of the many NFL analysts who have been very high on Nix since he started playing for the Broncos this preseason, singing his praises during games and taking to social media to hype up the former Oregon Ducks Heisman semifinalist.

Through two preseason games, Nix completed 23-of-30 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns with no turnovers and was graded by Pro Football Focus as the best rookie quarterback in the 2024 class.

Now we know that we get to see him in Week 1 against the Seahawks, where fans hope he will continue to impress against one of the more promising defenses in the league.
