Marlins Look to Avoid Sweep vs. Diamondbacks

The Miami Marlins will wrap up their three-game home series with the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday night. Miami is hoping to avoid being swept at home by a D-backs team in a tight National League wild-card race.

Arizona currently holds the second N.L. wild-card spot by three games. The San Diego Padres are in front of them while the Atlanta Braves are not far behind.

As for pitching matchups, it will be southpaw pitcher Jordan Montgomery (8-6, 6.25 ERA) getting the start for the D-backs, his 19th of the season. His last outing came last week on Wednesday, Aug. 14 against the Colorado Rockies, when he pitched six innings, giving up three earned runs on five hits.

Montgomery’s counterpart will be Miami right-hander Roddery Muñoz (2-7, 5.88 ERA). The 24-year-old made his last start against the New York Mets on Friday, Aug. 16. He pitched three and a third innings allowing four earned runs on five hits.
