ESPN college football analyst Greg McElroy made his final season-long prediction on the ACC and its eventual 2024 champion on Wednesday, expecting some history to be made in December.

Of course, the ACC has expanded along with its other power conference counterparts, expanding into Texas with SMU and to the opposite coast with California and Stanford. However, McElroy sees none of those teams making the title in 2024, rather, two league stalwarts.

"Championship game, in our estimation, will be between Miami and the Florida State Seminoles," he said. "And we are taking the Miami Hurricanes."

If McElroy's prediction comes to fruition, that would mark Miami's first-ever ACC championship, even though they have been in the conference for 20 years and are heading into their 21st. This time around, the 'Canes might finally have the roster to pull it off.

"At this point, there's more known commodities on the roster," added McElroy. "They've been able to really upgrade at just about every position. So we're taking Miami to win the ACC and punch their ticket to the playoff over Florida State."

On the season as a whole, McElroy likes the Miami schedule and believes they have a strong shot at advancing through the regular season with little enough scathe to sneak into the ACC title.

"I look at it, I think Miami is a 10-2 football team," McElroy evaluated. "I think they really only have those two super difficult games at Louisville, Florida State at home. Do they split those two and are they 7-1 at the end of the day?"

If so, 7-1 almost certainly gets Miami into the ACC title game, and it might be good enough to win them the ACC regular season. Expectations are high in South Beach!
