Pete Carroll is making a return to the University of Southern California, stepping into a new role as a professor.

The former head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, who led the team to a Super Bowl victory in 2014, will be sharing his extensive football knowledge with students at USC, where he previously coached for nine successful seasons.

"I'm looking forward to that," Carroll told a sports radio show in Seattle, Washington.

"It's going to be a really exciting endeavor when it's finalized and all that."

Carroll, now 72, enjoyed a remarkable tenure at USC , winning two national championships in 2003 and 2004, along with four Rose Bowl titles.

After leaving the Trojans, he took over as head coach of the Seahawks in 2010, a position he held until earlier this year. Since stepping down, he has served as an adviser to the Seahawks, though his involvement with the team has been limited.

In addition to his new teaching role, Carroll has been active in various projects, including a recent visit to a U.S. military base in Kuwait to participate in a basketball tournament with troops.

He expressed enthusiasm about returning to USC, highlighting the opportunity to share his experiences and insights with students.

"I'm excited about it because there's more stuff to teach," Carroll said of his USC return.

    "There's more stuff to share.

"Everybody wants to know what I'm doing and all that, am I coaching or what am I doing,

"I'm working with some really fun people and some exciting opportunities to do some really cool stuff and putting things together ... for others.

"So I'm going to keep working that way and see what happens."

While Carroll has not ruled out a future return to coaching, he is currently focused on his new endeavors at USC and other projects that excite him.

"I get asked it a lot and I'm pretty familiar with the answer now," he said.

"I could coach tomorrow. I'm physically in the best shape I've been in in a long time.

"I'm ready to do all the activities that I'm doing and feeling really good about it.

"I could, but I don't really — I'm not desiring it at this point.

"This isn't the coaching season. We'll see what happens. I'm not waiting on it at all. I'm going ahead.

"I've got other things that I want to do that I'm excited about, and I'm going to see how all that goes."

The landscape of college football is changing, with significant shifts in conference alignments, but Carroll is ready to embrace this new chapter in his career.
