A newly-acquired Minnesota Vikings player has some in-state love for Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards.

Former All-Pro cornerback Stephon Gilmore said Edwards "is one of the young GOATs right now, so I'm definitely going to catch some of those games" ahead of the 2024-25 season.

Gilmore was picked up by Minnesota this week, signing a one-year, $10 million deal.

Gilmore, the 2019 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, has played with the New England Patriots, Indianapolis Colts and Dallas Cowboys before signing with the Vikings.

Edwards is coming off another stellar season with the Timberwolves, leading the team to its first Western Conference Finals in two decades.

He averaged 25.9 points, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game while also shooting 46.1% from the floor and 35.7% from three-point land.

Edwards also won a gold medal for Team USA in the Paris Olympics, the first time the 23-year-old has competed for his home country.

The Timberwolves released its 2024-25 schedule last week and tickets go on sale Thursday.

"Game recognize game," as the saying goes. Timberwolves fans shouldn't be surprised to see Gilmore sitting at Target Center this season, supporting No. 5.
