    Stephen Curry Experiments with Instagram

    By Lance Roberson,

Social media can influence basketball decisions sometimes as much as on-court production. Instagram and X (formerly known as Twitter) were designed for entertainment purposes. However, athletes can use social media platforms to leverage negotiations or express themselves politically or spiritually. Golden State Warriors star  Stephen Curry's recent Instagram behavior raised red flags across the NBA universe.

Following Team USA's Paris Olympics campaign in which the LeBron James-led roster won its fifth consecutive gold medal, Curry experienced a new basketball success. Curry's Olympic debut will also mark his last, as the Warriors superstar is 36. Furthermore, as a sign of respect for winning the gold medal at the Paris Olympics, Curry changed a few things on his Instagram profile.

Firstly, Curry changed his profile picture to a photo of the Team USA guard carrying the American flag on the court with his fist up, symbolizing triumph.

Secondly, the Team USA star replaced "guard for the Warriors" with "Olympic gold medalist" in his Instagram bio. Fans of the franchise are already on edge as Mike Dunleavy Jr. failed to add a second star during Curry's twilight years.

Perhaps Curry's recent comments about not wanting to play in obscurity finally set in as the Warriors couldn't trade for Utah Jazz All-Star Lauri Markkanen. The Warriors will likely depend on Curry an unhealthy amount.

Hiss supporting cast pales in comparison to the Sacramento Kings, Los Angeles Lakers, and New Orleans Pelicans. Andrew Wiggins experienced a career-low 2023-24 season.

However, in response to doom-and-gloom reactions from fans and analysts, it's possible Curry merely wanted to showcase his pride for his country and his career-first accomplishment of winning gold.

Who's to say Curry won't revert to his old bio and profile picture with a Warriors jersey when the 2024-25 starts? Lastly, maybe Curry doesn't need his job to become his whole personality.
