The Tampa Bay Buccaneers enter the season having won three consecutive NFC South championships while making the playoffs in four straight seasons. All the talk this offseason, however, has been on their division rival Atlanta Falcons.

The Falcons signed free-agent quarterback Kirk Cousins to a big contract in the offseason. Last week, they traded for New England Patriots edge rusher Matthew Judon and signed free agent All-Pro safety Justin Simmons to help on defense.

Bucs starting quarterback Baker Mayfield says he and his teammates are focused solely on what they can do.

"Atlanta has made some big splashes free agency-wise, and everybody is excited about it, but everybody was excited about the Saints doing the same thing last year, as well," Mayfield said.

"For us ... compete against yourself, try to get better each day, take care of the small things one step at a time and see where you're at in the end."

The Falcons have been installed as the divisional favorite heading into the season. Mayfield & Co. will be looking to once again buck the odds and return to the playoffs with another NFC South crown in hand.

The Bucs kickoff their season at home as they play host to rookie sensation Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders on Sept. 8.
