Key Offseason Signing Returns to Bills Practice

For the second-straight day, the Buffalo Bills had a key defensive piece return to practice. This time, it was safety Mike Edwards who retook the practice field.

Edwards, who has missed practice since June 29 with a hamstring injury, was seen at Bills' practice Wednesday taking part in individual drills, according to multiple sources.

The return of Edwards gives another boost to a Bills defense that endured multiple substantial injuries throughout the preseason, including linebacker Matt Milano and safety Damar Hamlin. His return comes a day after the return of fellow safety Cole Bishop, who also missed multiple weeks nursing a shoulder injury.

With over two weeks until the Bills open their regular-season, Edwards will hope to earn a key role in the secondary as the team looks to compete for a championship. Edwards has earned two championships himself, winning one with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV and another with the Kansas City Chiefs last season in Super Bowl LVIII.

Whenever Edwards does take the field with the Bills for the first time, he will be making his debut with the team after signing a one-year contract in the offseason.

Although Buffalo likely won't risk playing Edwards in their final preseason game on Saturday, the team will hope he'll be ready to take the field in Week 1 when the Bills take on the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 8.
