Video game giant 2K is set to release the 2025 edition of its popular NBA vertical on September 4. The basketball simulation game is a cult among hoop fans, giving them a virtual reality experience of playing as their favorite superstar and team.

As it has been observed over the past years, 2K releases its NBA players' ratings weeks in advance as a promotional tool to generate curiosity among fans. As a result, the video game publisher does draw strong reactions, given how passionate fan clubs are today.

Recently, there has been a lot of buzz around James Harden's scorecard, with many fans voicing their displeasure on social media. Joining this chorus is former NBA champion and podcaster Stephen Jackson.

Captain Jack chimes in with James Harden's fans over former MVP's 2K ratings

The Beard's 2K ratings have dropped considerably over the last five seasons. Nonetheless, this time around, fans are not willing to sit quietly, expressing their displeasure on social media. Harden is a three-time scoring champion and former MVP, and he finds himself alongside the likes of Jalen Green, Bradley Beal, Josh Hart, and Kyle Kuzma, to name a few.

No disrespect to the names mentioned above, but Harden has proved his mettle as one of the greatest scorers the game has ever seen. Stephen Jackson joined the chorus with the following to say about the situation .

"If all these guys are an 80 plus, (James Harden) is a 90 plus."

Harden finished last season as a top-5 leader in assists, averaging 8.5 APG. The ten-time All-Star also had 16.6 PPG on 38% shooting from the 3-point line. Undoubtedly, the former Rockets superstar's scoring prowess has seen a visible decline, but he is still a top-tier player.

Can James Harden reboot his Rockets mode?

Given Paul George's exit, the step-back king has a lot riding this upcoming season. If the Clippers wish to make the playoffs, Harden cannot merely be an anchor to Kawhi. The veteran guard needs to average close to 25 PPG.

This would have been a walk in the park back in his Houston days, but this isn't the case today, given how rapidly Harden's game has slowed down. Hence, it will be interesting to see if the 6-foot-5 guard can flip the switch, given that he might be granted the license to play a bit of ISO ball.
