Kawhi Leonard posts most games as a Clipper but sees lowest 2K rating since 2016

Though Kawhi Leonard prefers to keep a low public profile, social media ensures otherwise, finding ways to keep him trending. The latest case in point is the two-time champion's 2K rating reaching its lowest since 2016 when he played for the Spurs.

Why is this surprising? The Klaw played a record 68 games last season, the most in a Clippers uniform. The team won 64.7% when the veteran forward played the contest, averaging 23.7 PPG, 6.1 RPG, and 1.6 APG. Kawhi had the shooting splits of 50/40/88 in this course.

Some possible reasons behind this ratings downfall could be that he is not putting up big numbers despite his efficiency. Another is his absence due to injury in the season's final games, followed by the playoffs.

    Dissecting Kawhi Leonard's 2K25 ratings

Though his ratings have been minimal since his first season with the Clippers, Kawhi has seen a drop in his 2K ratings. The last time the superstar made a conference finals appearance was with the Raptors in 2019. The Ballmer franchise made the WCF in 2021, but the six-time All-Star was out with a partial ACL tear.

Despite injuries constantly plaguing him, Kawhi never disappointed when he was on the court. In his five seasons with the franchise, the two-time Finals MVP has posted close to 25 PPG, with high efficiency.

An interesting note is that Ja Morant, who played a mere nine games last season, is ranked above Kawhi. On the other hand, Donovan Mitchell and Jimmy Butler, who were limited in their presence, also edged the Clippers superstar.

    The 2024-25 redemption season?

After Paul George's departure, most of the Clippers' responsibility now rests on Kawhi's shoulders. Nonetheless, the 33-year-old has all the skill set it takes to be the go-to person on the team, as evidenced by his stint with the Raptors in 2019.

Ironically, even Vegas thinks similarly , expecting the veteran superstar to be in the MVP race.
