The Carolina Panthers have addressed their cornerback concerns by acquiring Michael Jackson from the Seattle Seahawks in a trade that saw rookie linebacker Michael Barrett heading to Seattle. This move comes as the Panthers grapple with injuries in their secondary, most notably with starter Dane Jackson likely sidelined for the start of the season due to a hamstring issue.

Michael Jackson, a 27-year-old cornerback, arrives in Carolina with substantial experience, having started 21 games in his NFL career. Last season with Seattle, he played in all 17 games, contributing 34 tackles, two tackles for loss, and five pass deflections. Originally drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, Jackson's journey through the league has seen him spend time with the Detroit Lions and New England Patriots before finding his stride with the Seahawks.

Carolina’s acquisition of Jackson is strategic, aiming to fill the void left by injuries and to provide stability opposite standout corner Jaycee Horn. With a proven track record and the physicality needed for the position, Jackson’s arrival attempts to shore up a critical area for the Panthers as they prepare for the upcoming season.
