McDuffie To Make First Pro Bowl?

    By Wil Riggs,

Despite being selected first-team All-Pro last season, Kansas City Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie somehow didn’t make the Pro Bowl. Yes, that's right; although the Chiefs sent five players to the Pro Bowl last season, and although he received a sort-of even higher honor, McDuffie wasn’t one of them.

Ken Patra of NFL.com believes that this could be McDuffie’s year.

"With L'Jarius Sneed heading to the Titans this offseason, McDuffie becomes the CB1 for the reigning Super Bowl champs," Patra wrote. "One of the rare first-team All-Pros who hasn't been to a Pro Bowl, McDuffie boasts the kinds of physical traits, acumen and drive that make great corners.

“Now that Sneed is gone, will Steve Spagnuolo move McDuffie around to match him against opposing WR1s, or will he keep the corner on one side of the formation? If Spags lets his top corner travel, we'll truly see McDuffie's lock-down skills on display."

The former Washington Huskies star has been a starter since Week 7 of the 2022 season. He has amassed 124 total tackles, four sacks, six forced fumbles and 14 passes defended in that span.

He has yet to intercept a pass, but like a lot of shut-down corners, the ball doesn’t come his way just a whole lot. It doesn’t happen often when an All-Pro misses the playoffs, but with his rising popularity among his peers and the national media, making the Pro Bowl is only a matter of time.
