The Tampa Bay Buccaneers complete the preseason portion of their 2024 schedule on Friday night against the in-state rival Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins have posted a 2-0 record in the exhibition season with wins over the Atlanta Falcons and Washington Commanders and would like to close it out with a perfect mark.

Tampa Bay is 1-1 with a win over the Bengals and a loss to the Jags. Both teams still have some questions on both sides of the ball as players make their final push to claim a spot on the final 53-man roster before Week 1 kicks off.

Likewise, coach Todd Bowles has some tough decisions to make concerning the final cuts.

“I think outside [linebackers], safeties, and corners are going to be tough,” Bowles said . “Any time you have those kinds of guys and all of them can do a lot of things – that’s going to be tough. The depth at the defensive line is going to be tough. The last guy or two on the offensive line…Between how many tight ends and how many [running] backs we keep, and that last [wide] receiver spot.”

Bowles and quarterback Baker Mayfield have both confirmed Tampa Bay starters will play some on Friday night, and the Dolphins will respond with some starters on the field of their own.

“We will play some starters. We won’t play others,” Dolphins coach Mike McDaniel said Wednesday. “There’s jobs to be won and then — to really evaluate all of the jobs at stake — you end up prioritizing certain aspects of your team and getting game reps for the guys that haven’t played in games as much.
