A Minnesota high school football player committed to joining the Gophers in 2026 is reportedly "out for the regular season."

Offensive lineman Andrew Trout, the No. 1 Minnesota football recruit for his class, was spotted with a walking boot at Rocori football practice and will need surgery soon, according to former longtime KARE sports anchor, Randy Shaver.

Rocori head football coach James Herberg said learning about the injury "was really tough," adding that Trout "means a lot to our football team."

The 6-foot-6, 295-pound lineman is a four-star prospect, according to 247Sports. He's ranked as the 219th-best prospect for his class in the nation.

Trout committed to play for the Gophers this past winter. He's one of four prep players to commit to the program's 2026 recruiting class, joining defensive linemen Howie Johnson and Kenedy Uzoma, and quarterback Owen Lansu.

The Cold Spring, Minn. native also received offers from Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas state and Wisconsin before he decided to become a Gopher.
