The Detroit Tigers faced a tough defeat against the Chicago Cubs, losing 10-2 in the final game of their three-game series at Wrigley Field. This loss marked the second defeat for the Tigers in their seven-game road trip, leaving them with a record of 62-66 as they prepare to take on the Chicago White Sox next.

Kenta Maeda, who has been moved to a relief role, struggled on the mound, giving up six runs over his five innings of work. This was his seventh outing since being taken out of the starting rotation in July, and he now holds a 6.42 ERA for the season.

On the other side, Cubs pitcher Justin Steele was dominant, allowing only two runs on four hits while striking out ten batters over seven innings. The Tigers didn’t score until the seventh inning, when Spencer Torkelson hit a two-run homer, marking his first home run since May.

The Cubs took control early, scoring four runs in the second inning, including a grand slam from Miguel Amaya. Defensive lapses by the Tigers contributed to the Cubs' scoring, with several fly balls dropping and near-collisions in the outfield.

In the seventh inning, Joey Wentz entered the game but quickly gave up four more runs, effectively sealing the Tigers' fate. The Cubs' offense capitalized on the Tigers' mistakes, extending their lead and ending the game with a commanding victory.

As the Tigers look ahead to their next series, they will need to address their pitching struggles and defensive errors to turn their season around.
