The Chicago Cubs dominated the Detroit Tigers with a decisive 10-2 victory in the final game of their series at Wrigley Field. This win not only secured the series for the Cubs but also ended the Tigers' impressive streak of holding opponents to three runs or fewer.

"There's a lot on the list of things today that we can reflect back to," manager AJ Hinch told reporters after the game . "We are going to have games like that. No need to overreact. But we do have plenty to address."

Cubs rookie catcher Miguel Amaya made a significant impact early in the game, hitting a grand slam in the second inning that put the Tigers on their heels.

The inning began with Seiya Suzuki reaching base on an infield single, followed by hits from Nico Hoerner and Dansby Swanson. After a strikeout, Amaya capitalized on a first-pitch fastball, sending it deep into the left-field bleachers for his sixth home run of the season.

"I don't think the wind was that big a deal," Hinch said . "But this ballpark plays differently in both directions."

Cubs pitcher Justin Steele was in control throughout the game, striking out ten batters over seven innings. The only runs he allowed came from a two-run homer by Spencer Torkelson in the seventh inning, marking Torkelson's fifth home run of the year.

"We want him to find success and do well," Hinch said . "He made a great play on defense and made a really good pass on that ball and hit it hard. We need him to do something positive every day."

The Cubs continued to add to their lead, scoring four more runs in the seventh inning against Tigers reliever Joey Wentz. Amaya finished the game with three hits and five RBIs, while Cody Bellinger, Hoerner, and Swanson each contributed two hits and an RBI.

The Tigers, now 62-66, will head to Chicago's South Side for a four-game series against the White Sox. Before the game, the Tigers placed right-hander Alex Faedo on paternity leave and called up lefty Sean Guenther from Triple-A Toledo.

Looking ahead, the Tigers will face the White Sox with the first game scheduled for Friday evening.
