'Hard Knocks' Made A Shocking Change For The Chicago Bears Season

HBO's Hard Knocks has been around for a long time. The show debuted in 2001, producing a total of 17 seasons. Each season provides viewers with a unique, behind the scenes look into NFL franchises, as well as exclusive interviews with players and coaches.

This season debuted on August 6th, marking the first time the Chicago Bears have been featured on the show. This season is entitled, HBO's Hard Knocks: Training Camp With the Chicago Bears, and the series finale is set to drop on September 3rd. The most recent episode (Ep. 3) dropped this past Tuesday, and if you've been watching, you've noticed something essential to the show's popularity is suddenly missing.

Through the first three episodes, NOT A SINGLE PROFANITY HAS HIT AIR.

Cursing is part of the fabric of Hard Knocks. From Rex Ryan to Dan Campbell to many others, this series is usually littered with unfiltered tirades and speeches, providing as close to the real NFL experience as fans can get. However, Shannon Furman, Lead Director of HBO's Hard Knocks, confirmed the sudden change to the Bears' season on the CHGO Bears Podcast Wednesday night:

According to Furman, this was done out of respect for the McKaskey family, the current owners of the Bears.

No matter how you feel about the lack of profanity in this season of Hard Knocks, it's certainly a shocking change to a generally profanity laced program. It may be a real stretch to categorize this season as 'Reality TV'.
