Jahan Dotson is Perfect Fit for Eagles Offense

Jahan Dotson hasn't been able to dominate at a level the Washington Commanders were hoping for when they drafted him in the first round of the 2022 draft.

He wasn't bad, but he wasn't the world-beater the Burgundy and Gold were hoping for.

Still, for Washington to trade away a young player entering his third NFL season, it's usually a sign that the new leadership regime didn't think too highly of the player to begin with.

All the better for the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Birds traded a 2025 third-round pick to their NFC East rival for the rights of Dotson. He still has two more years on his rookie deal, and has 11 touchdowns already in his career - far from the kind of full-scale bust most teams that trade former first-round picks deal with.

It's what makes Philadelphia's trade for Dotson so impressive.

The Eagles have been desperately looking for a competent third receiver to pair with the likes of superstars in DeVonta Smith and A.J. Brown. Players like Quez Watkins, Parris Campbell, and Zach Pascal failed in their attempts to do so.

With Dotson, the Eagles get that kind of competency in the role, and allow the offense to be even more difficult to stop going into the 2024 season.

It's why the trade with Washington may seem like a steep price, but is a perfect move for the Birds.
