A Chicago Bears player was placed on a stretcher before being taken off the field during a preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium.

Cornerback Douglas Coleman III collided with a Chiefs player during a play early in the third quarter, and Coleman remained motionless after the play concluded.

Players gathered around with commercial breaks taken on the NFL Network while they got Coleman secured on a board before taking him off the field.

There's no word as to the extent of the seriousness of injury. Coleman was taken to a nearby hospital to be evaluated.

Coleman, 26, went undrafted in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Texas Tech and was later signed the same year by the Denver Broncos. He then went to the Canadian Football League, spending three seasons with the Ottawa Redblacks.

He signed with Chicago in January.

Last season with the Redblacks, Coleman made 60 tackles, four sacks, three interceptions and scored two touchdowns in 17 games.

Last week against the Cincinnati Bengals, Coleman had the ninth-best defensive rating (72.9) among Bears players.

This is a developing story. Be sure to check back for updates.
