Ernie Clement continued his impressive streak , hitting a home run for the third consecutive game as the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the Los Angeles Angels 5-3 on Thursday night. The Blue Jays capitalized on a five-run second inning, establishing an early lead that they maintained throughout the game.

Clement's home run came off a high fastball from Angels pitcher Mike Baumann, marking it as one of the highest pitches hit for a home run since pitch tracking began in 2008. This victory adds to the Blue Jays' recent success against the Angels, having won four straight matchups and eight of their last ten.

The Angels managed to score late in the game with a three-run homer from Niko Kavadas in the ninth inning, but it wasn't enough to turn the tide. This loss marked the Angels' eighth defeat in their last ten games, coinciding with the announcement of a two-year contract extension for their general manager.

Blue Jays pitcher Ryan Burr started the game, allowing two hits before being replaced after Jo Adell's single. Adell had a standout performance, finishing the game with three hits. Following Burr, Ryan Yarbrough delivered five shutout innings, allowing only three hits and striking out four batters.

Angels pitcher Brock Burke, making his first major league start since 2019, struggled early, giving up three runs in the second inning. Despite a solid performance from relief pitcher Griffin Canning, who retired 18 of the 20 batters he faced, the Angels couldn't recover.

Looking ahead, the Blue Jays are set to play against the Angels again, with Chris Bassitt scheduled to start for Toronto.
