Bucs' Cade Otton Disrespected in Latest TE Rankings

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers do not have the best tight end in the NFL, but he does more than enough to get the job done.

In a recent article by Pro Football Network , they rank who they believe are the top 32 tight ends in the NFL. Surprisingly, Buccaneers tight end Cade Otton is nowhere to be found on the list, but there are backups that are.

The Buccaneers have one of the best wide receiver duos in the entire NFL in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin, As a result, the team relies on them for a lot of their passing attack, so their tight end position does not have to do as much for the team to be successful.

But that does not mean that Otton is bad, by any means. He finished this past season with 455 receiving yards and four touchdowns, and that was exactly what the team needed. Just a guy to look to whenever the star wide receivers are not open, and that is what he was.

But, at No. 32 on their list, Pro Football Network has former Carolina Panther and current Los Angeles Charger Hayden Hurst. While he maybe used to put up some solid numbers, he only played in nine games and had less than 200 receiving yards this past season. Therefore, it does not make much sense that Otton would be lower than him on the list.

Otton will be looking to do exactly what the Bucs ask of him this season, and that is to be a safety blanket whenever the team needs a fall-back option, and he seems perfectly adequate for that role.
