    Chiefs Fall to Bears in Preseason Finale

    The Kansas City Chiefs fell to the Chicago Bears 34-21 on Thursday night at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium in the preseason finale for both teams.

    After trailing the Chicago Bears 20-7 at the half, the Chiefs needed a spark. Quarterback Chris Oladokun played the entire first half and looked good at times threading the needle on some key passes, but also threw two interceptions.

    Oladokun remained under center to start the third quarter but couldn't get the offense started again.

    The Bears found the end zone with 6:19 left in the third quarter on an Austin Reed six-yard pass to Tommy Sweeney that put Chicago up 27-7. That pass ended an 11-play, 92-yard drive.

    Ian Book entered the game at quarterback for the Chiefs after that score as Oladokun finished the game 9-of-16 for 66 yards and two interceptions. Book led the Chiefs to a 3-and-out on his first possession under center.

    Reed led the Bears on another scoring drive late in the third as running back Velus Jones Jr. scampered for 39 yards and a touchdown with just 28 seconds left in the quarter It ended a seven-play, 66-yard drive. It makes 24 unanswered points by the Bears.

    The Chiefs finally found the end zone again on the next possession as running back Keaontay Ingram carried the ball for two yards for a 34-24 score wrapping up a 10-play, 65-yard drive with 10:27 left in the game.

    Kansas City got another break on the ensuing Bears drive as John Jackson caught a pass in the right flat and fumbled when hit by Gillespie. Hadden picked up the ball and returned it to the Chicago 9-yard line.

    Book connected with receiver Montrell Washington for a 50-yard completion late in the fourth quarter that set up a tight end screen from Book to Cupp for a 10-yard touchdown to narrow the Bears' lead to 34-21 with just 3:29 left in the game.

    The combination of Book and Oladokun went 15-of-25 for 136 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions, while the Chiefs running backs ran for 135 yards. Kansas City wideouts combined for 137 yards on the night.

    For the Bears, Tyson Bagent, Austin Reed and Brett Rypien totaled 20-of-29 for 226 yards and one touchdown, while the Chicago rushing attack totaled 164 yards on 33 carries with Jones Jr. accounting for 111 yards on 13 carries and a score.

    Bears receivers caught 20 balls for 226 yards and one touchdown.

    Next up for the Chiefs are the Baltimore Ravens in the regular season opener on Thursday Night Football on Sept. 5.
