The Oklahoma City Thunder completed one of the most stunning transactions of the summer when they landed free agency big man Isaiah Hartenstein. Coming over from the New York Knicks, the 26-year-old big man spent the last couple of seasons under the bright New York lights. His departure from the Big Apple was something he described as “tough.” But in the fewer than two months he’s been in Bricktown, the center has apparently vibed well with his new teammates.

“I-Hart” plays a Chet vs. Shai game

Ever since his move to the Thunder, Hartenstein has been the cheerleader for a promising 2024-25 campaign for the franchise. His introductory press conference was filled with the approval of his teammates, excitement for his new chapter, and the potentially dynamic pairing he can create on the court with stars Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren.

A part of that camaraderie with teammates on the court is getting to know them off the court, which Hartenstein has apparently done plenty of this summer. In a recent video posted to social media, OKC’s $87 million man was asked to answer questions on and off the court about SGA and Chet.

The speed of his answers reveals that Isaiah has spent some summer free time hanging with his new teammates. Much has been made about the potentially devastating tandem Holmgren and Hartenstein can create in the frontcourt for the Thunder. If both big men grow closer off the court, it only spells a faster and deadlier on-court connection, as is the case with Shai, who prepares to score off Hart’s screen and pile up assists on lobs to the basket.
