Alabama Fans Won’t Like Dan Mullen’s Preseason College Football Rankings

ESPN college football analyst and former SEC head coach Dan Mullen posted his preseason top 25 on X , including a surprising ranking for the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Alabama enters a football without Nick Saban at the helm for the first time since the release of the iPhone 2. Now, the roster is still loaded, but for Mullen, there's just a few more questions in the unknown, which is why he had Alabama outside of the top five.

Instead, he has the following three-team order just outside the top four:

    5. Florida State
    6. Michigan
    7. Alabama

The Tide slide in just above Penn State but they fall in behind FSU and Michigan. 'Bama fans might ask why. After all, they did lose a coach but hired the guy who took Washington to the national title game, plus, they return plenty of talent, including the QB.

Meanwhile, Florida State replaces much of their star power and Michigan lost a coach, quarterback and most of their offense. Arguably, Alabama has more off last year's roster back than either of those clubs, plus a national title-caliber coach. Yet, they're just seventh to start the season for Dan Mullen.

The good news is Alabama won't stay there long if they come out and continue to win at the level they aways have under the new coach.
