Dodgers News: Yoshinobu Yamamoto progresses in rehab ahead of potential return

The Los Angeles Dodgers are optimistic about the return of right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto as he progresses through his rehab. After being sidelined since mid-July due to right triceps tightness, Yamamoto recently threw a two-inning simulated game at Dodger Stadium, showing promising signs of recovery.

"The feeling was pretty good," Yamamoto said through an interpreter. "Everything is starting to come all together."

Yamamoto had a strong start to his rookie season, posting a 6-2 record with a 2.92 ERA in his first 14 games. His injury came shortly after a standout performance against the New York Yankees, where he showcased his best velocity.

"Probably there's more than one reason. There's fatigue that probably accumulated on the shoulder, so, not one reason.

"I do have some frustration. But I just need to be focusing on rehab. I need to get myself ready to go back."

In the coming days, he is scheduled to throw three innings before heading out for a minor league rehab assignment. The Dodgers have faced challenges this season with injuries and inconsistent performances from several pitchers, including Tyler Glasnow, who is currently on the injured list.

"The ball was coming out of his hand with a lot of life," Roberts said of Wednesday's sim game. "It seems like he's healthy. As long as he recovers well, then we start homing in on the command and all that other stuff."

As the Dodgers fight to maintain their lead in the National League West, Yamamoto's return would be a significant boost. The team is taking a cautious approach, prioritizing his long-term health over a rushed comeback. They are committed to ensuring he is fully prepared for the postseason.
