The Texas A&M Aggies are not going to be playing their biggest rival at a neutral site anytime soon according to the man who is critical in making decisions at that level.

Last week, Texas and Texas A&M announced a joint press conference regarding the future of the Lone Star Showdown which was held on Thursday and named Cotton Holdings, Inc. as the sponsor of the game. When the news that there would be a press conference was released, however, many fans immediately began to worry that the reason for the presser was to announce that the game would be moving to a neutral site in the future.

Texas A&M Athletics Director Trev Alberts spoke to the media after the official press conference and stated that fans who were concerned about that possibility need not worry and that having the game be played in Austin and College Station is extremely important to him.

"That would be really counterproductive to a rivalry," Alberts said after sharing that Longhorns AD Chris Del Conte told him he also received calls from people worried about that possibility. "What makes it special is when you get to host it on your field, in your town...These are the types of games that need to be played on college campuses, it's part of what makes the rivalry special."

In general, it seems like no one, whether it be fans, coaches, or administrators want this game played for the long haul anywhere but Kyle Field and Darrell K Royal Texas Memorial Stadium .

Given that fact, it should be a fairly easy path to ensuring that is always the case.
