Bo Nix has been lighting NFL preseason football on fire through 2 games, but for those who have been following Bo Nix since his time at Auburn, it shouldn't be a surprise that he won the competition. Having faced criticism for completion percentage, turnovers, offensive knowledge, and age, every time someone has doubted him, he's finally arrived to the role his talent promised was possible in his 5 star status as a high school recruit.

Nix left college as the reigning leader in single season completion percentage at Oregon, and the record holder for most games started in college football history. He finished his career 6th all-time in passing yards with 15,531, 17th in Passing touchdowns with 113, and 10th in career attempts per interception. Especially in the last 2 years of his college career, he was a supremely efficient and effective weapon, and those qualities are what Sean Payton drafted him 12th overall to replicate and improve upon in Denver.

Ever since getting drafted to the Broncos, Nix's combination of arm talent, experience, intelligence, and natural athleticism has stood out, and while Payton has always been reticent to let young players, especially rookies, anchor his outfits, the announcement made on Wednesday speaks to how well Nix has adapted to the NFL already. In 2 preseason matchups and limited action, he has mirrored his college efficiency numbers, posting a 76% completion percentage, 202 yards, 2 TDs, and a 116.7 passer rating.

Nix will open his rookie season against the Seattle Seahawks as the first rookie QB to start a season for the Denver Broncos since John Elway in 1983. Before then, the Broncos will play one more preseason game against the Arizona Cardinals (August 25th at 3:30 CT)
