Nick Saban Names ACC Program With Top 5 Roster In College Football

With the countdown winding down to the start of the 2024 college football season, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban revealed some strong thoughts about No. 10 Florida State as it prepares to take on Georgia Tech in Dublin, Ireland.

The pair will open things up on Saturday at noon ET on ABC.

Saban, a seven-time national champion, knows a thing or two about talented rosters. The Crimson Tide's dynasty under Saban will go down as one of the best in the history of the sport.

When giving his take on the Week 0 matchup on "The Pat McAfee Show," Saban shared some praise for the Seminoles' talent level.

"Florida State, to me, has one of the best five probably personnel-wise teams in the country," he said . "The way they’ve been able to reload through the (transfer) portal, as well as having good recruiting and good young players coming up in the program that they’ve developed."

FSU is coming off a 13-1 campaign and ACC Championship crown under fourth-year head coach Mike Norvell. The Seminoles would have likely made the College Football Playoff if not for a devastating injury to star quarterback Jordan Travis.

The Seminoles look much differently entering the 2024 season after losing 10 players to the NFL draft and 22 players to transfer. Norvell and company signed 17 players out of the portal, including former Clemson and Oregon State quarterback, DJ Uiagalelei, and signed the No. 12 class in the 2024 cycle, per 247Sports.

Despite the massive roster turnover, Saban sees a team that can compete with some of the best in the country. He was present at practice this week as FSU prepares for the Yellow Jackets.

“I think they’re one of the best teams in the country and looking at them on the field, they’re a very physical good looking team," Saban said.
