A'ja Wilson is the favorite to win the MVP award this 2024 WNBA season; however, popular sports reporter Rachel DeMita firmly believes that Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark deserves to be in the conversation as well.

Speaking in her Courtside Club podcast, DeMita made a case for Clark to be in the MVP talks. She noted that the rookie sensation has had so much impact on the Fever that it makes it hard to ignore her when talking about the highest individual award in the league.

DeMita admitted that Clark's turnover woes and the Fever's early struggles might be used against her in the MVP debate. But in the end, she emphasized that one could argue Clark has affected Indiana more than Wilson has on the Las Vegas Aces.

"Caitlin was throwing the ball away 10 times a game. And I feel maybe that's the only thing holding her back from truly, truly being in this MVP conversation is because she started out the season a little slow," DeMita explained. "But again, she's coming into this WNBA season with no break, right after her college season, and then trying to adapt to a new team."

DeMita, who recently became a courtside commentator for the Big3, added: "There are four women in that Aces team who were on Team US, who just played in the Olympics. The Aces have won back-to-back championships. A'ja Wilson is the star of that team, yes, but has she made as much of an impact on her team as Caitlin has for the Fever? I think that is the place that we can rightfully have this discussion."

Caitlin Clark is averaging 17.8 points, 5.8 rebounds and a league-leading 8.3 assists per game. With her taking charge, the Fever are 13-15 on the season and well positioned to make the playoffs.

For what it's worth, the latest odds have Clark (+8000) as the second-favorite to win. However, the Fever rookie is really far behind A'ja Wilson and seems unlikely to win, with the Aces superstar in the lead at -3000, per FOX Sports.

Rachel DeMita, however, seems to suggest that the race should be a lot closer than what the odds say.
