Bears make another trade, add DT from Browns

The Chicago Bears have made another move to bolster their defense.

Saturday morning, a day after a trade with Seattle , the club swung a trade with Cleveland for defensive tackle Chris Williams.

In addition to Williams, the Bears will get a 2025 seventh-round pick from the Browns in exchange for a sixth-round pick — the selection the Bears got from Miami for Chase Claypool.

Williams, 26, served as a backup for the Colts in 2021 and 2022, registering six tackles over 13 games in the span, before spending last year on the Chiefs’ and Browns’ practice squads.

He adds depth at a spot of concern for the Bears, particularly with Zacch Pickens dealing with an injury that could linger into the start of the season.

Chicago opens the regular season on Sept. 8 against the Tennessee Titans.
