Cowboys vs. Chargers: Who's In, Who's Out?

On Saturday afternoon, the Dallas Cowboys will host the Los Angeles Chargers in their final preseason game of the year at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.

While the team’s biggest names are unlikely to see the field in this game, there are some players fans need to keep their eyes on in this one.

Last year’s first-round pick Mazi Smith missed last weeks preseason game with an allergic reaction to something he ate - well, drank. "Milk,'' he says. This week, he will figure to get in some much-needed work in the first half.

He is said to have no lingering affects from the reaction and will be ready to go for kickoff.

Running back Deuce Vaughn will also play on Saturday hoping to solidify his roster sport heading into the season. The 5-5 running back out of Kansas State didn’t make an impact as a rookie last season, but the fan favorite is looking to do just that in Year 2 in a running back room with a finality that is still undetermined.

Quarterbacks Trey Lance and Cooper Rush are still battling for the backup spot behind starter Dak Prescott. Following a mediocre outing game in the first preseason game of the year, Lance came back and played well last week in a win at the Raiders.

If he can keep that momentum up, it will make the final depth chart reveal very interesting as Dallas tries to move the chess pieces there.

On a final note, it is rumored that Prescott will get the opportunity to call plays in this game. McCarthy actually allowed the Cowboys starting QB to do it last year as well, so it will be interesting to see what sort of influence throughout the game.

The Cowboys and Chargers are set to kick off at 3:00 p.m. CST. The game will be available on CBS 11 in Dallas/Fort Worth and on NFL+.
