Michigan football faced a setback this week as they lost their top commitment for the 2025 recruiting class.

Defensive lineman Nate Marshall, a 6-foot-4, 260-pound prospect ranked No. 49 overall, flipped his commitment from Michigan to Auburn after initially pledging to the Wolverines in April.

While this loss stings, Michigan is actively pursuing other recruits, particularly in the cornerback position.

One of their primary targets is Donovan Starr , a four-star cornerback currently committed to Auburn. Starr, who hails from Brentwood, Tennessee, stands at 6 feet and weighs 176 pounds. He is ranked No. 416 in the 2025 class according to the 247 Sports composite rankings.

Starr committed to Auburn in June, but with a crowded cornerback situation at the Tigers, Michigan is making a strong push to flip him according to EJ Holland of The Wolverine .

A visit to Michigan this fall could be pivotal in this recruitment process. Starr has impressive speed, clocking a 10.56 in the 100-meter dash, which is notable for his size.

Michigan has a history with recruits from Ravenwood High School, where Starr plays. The Wolverines previously signed cornerback Myles Pollard and linebacker Junior Colson from the same school.

Securing a visit from Starr would indicate that Michigan has a genuine chance to flip this talented cornerback from Auburn. The coming weeks will be crucial as the Wolverines look to strengthen their 2025 class.
