'We're Done!' Cowboys Planning One More Trade Move?

FRISCO — The Dallas Cowboys added to their defensive front late in training camp. They traded for Jordan Phillips and signed Carl Lawson before their second preseason game, preceding Jerry Jones' tease of more incoming moves.

That hint became the signing of Linval Joseph, completing a reconstruction of the Dallas defensive line. After securing that area of the roster, it appears Jones and the Cowboys are satisfied with their current group.

With two weeks until the regular season, they are not seeking any additional adjustments. ... or so Jones says.

"I think we're done. Except if we saw something that we're not anticipating. I thought we were in the market for a big guy, we got him (Linval Joseph)," Jones said. "So we're good there. Right now, I don't see a position that we could think that there would be a player that we would make a change for."

Saturday afternoon, the announcement of DaRon Bland's foot injury came moments before the kickoff of Dallas' preseason finale. But it appears the team will stick with their available assets, presenting opportunity for younger players like Caelen Carson.

Bland's injury was certainly not anticipated and a major blow to the secondary. Could that trigger another move? It sounds like that will not be the case.

But that may be a reflection of this team's secondary and its leadership more than a blanket approach for the entire team.

Last season, the team had security in place when Trevon Diggs went down and gave way for the emergence of Bland. Carson may not follow that same trajectory; however, there is reason to trust the foundation in place to push through Bland's absence.

Elsewhere, there have not been surprises that would cause any reaction, so any further search for help outside the Star may not be necessary. But with Jerry, that is subject to change. ... especially as the cuts are announced by 31 other teams in the coming days.
