"You've got to have your head on a swivel this time of year," Josh Pate said, leading off the Sunday live version of Late Kick .

Breaking down Georgia Tech's upset win over Florida State, he noted the Yellow Jackets led 190-98 in rushing yards. Brent Key's team controlled the line of scrimmage, against an FSU squad that had been hyped as the best defensive line in college football. He said of the Florida State's coaches, "Those folks thought they were going to dominate the line of scrimmage."

"Maybe the underdog was underrated," he said, complimenting a solid job by Key and his coaches and players. Georgia Tech is 5-0 against ranked teams in the ACC under Key.

The Seminoles had three tackles for loss and zero sacks, while GT had one sack and 7 TFLs.

This week, Pate takes his Saturday Tour to Gainesville for Miami at Florida. The tour is sponsored by QuikTrip.

"It doesn't matter what your preview magazine says. It matters that anything can happen in college football," he said.

How much chaos will there be this season? A double-digit favorite lost yesterday and Montana State, an FCS team dumped New Mexico. SMU struggled with Big Sky Nevada, needing a drive and a field goal on their last possession to win it.

Chaos in the Big Ten centers around uncertainty at the quarterback position, the Late Kick host said. Teams are counting on their QB, Will Howard, Dillon Gabriel, Drew Allar, Alex Orji, to take a next step. Which may not necessarily happen. That scenario opens up a title run for USC. "I guarantee you Lincoln Riley will have good quarterback play."

Chaos is a ladder. It will be fascinating to see who climbs it.
